LAS JARDINERAS GARDEN CLUB AWARD OF APPRECIATION FOR LANDSCAPE BEAUTIFICATION There are a number of sites in our area which rate a salute because their owners have personal pride as well as a sense that all of our efforts are needed to make an attractive, livable community. These private efforts are above the minimum standard. They are the result of the application of time, hard work, some money, and a lot of imagination. These are places where the homeowners or commercial property owners have gone the extra mile. You can nominate a site that you believe has special merit or that you have watched change from an eyesore to a thing of beauty. Just take a few photos and bring them in to the Las Jardineras Garden Club Award Committee. BE SURE to write the address down on the back of the photos It can be a single yard, a multi-family development, a park, a company, a commercial site, public building, or a school site that deserves recognition because its presence enhances the environment and the community. The committee will present some of the best sites to the members to help select the most outstanding award winners. Las Jardineras will then invite these people to come and speak about their changes and challenges and will give an Award to each of them. Instead of complaining about some of the tasteless and crowded developments and various eyesores around our valley, let’s encourage some of the hard workers in beautification to continue their hard work Neighborhood beautification has been one of the Garden Club of California’s goals for a long time but it must start at the community level. There are county programs for planting trees and cleaning up blighted sites or painting out graffiti. Our Award of Appreciation will single out those sites whose community pride is above and beyond the call of duty and deserve to win our plaudits and hopefully encourage their neighbors and fellow residents on the road to beautification.
